BFI Film Academy

Project Coordinator, Screen Argyll, 2019

Bringing the BFI Film Academy to Oban was a great opportunity for young people living in more remote and rural parts of Scotland who are curious about in a career in the film industry.

During the course they worked together to watch, experiment, create and learn more about animation and film in a variety of forms. This intensive programme included hands-on filmmaking workshops where participants were given the tools needed to develop an idea from rough sketch to big screen.

They worked with professional animators and film makers, and skills covered included script writing, model making, animation, video editing, lighting for camera and sound design. They used these new skills to work together to create their own short films which they presented at a screening event at Oban Pheonix Cinema, created and coordinated by them.
